Who is Blame Sally, you may ask.
They are the most terrific band you’ll hear and see if you are lucky enough to. But don’t fret. They travel far and wide bringing with them their incomparable musicianship and songcraft and they are a must-see-hear. Check it out for yourself here where I just discovered they have posted an incredible set of videos from many of their shows over the past couple of years. Go ahead, pick a video, any one. They are all fantastic. But do yourself a favor and put on some good headphones because like the old Campbell’s soup commercial (or was it Progresso?) you’ll want to hear every drop.
The cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Never Going Back Again” is what stopped me in my tracks today and though it IS amazing and FM is one of my very favorite bands, it does not showcase Monica Pasqual’s beauty on the piano, so be sure to check out others.
I was a lucky one several years back when I was their sound engineer for their local (Bay Area, CA) shows and had the utmost pleasure in dialing in every detail of their vocal talents and riding the faders on the sonic palette of each of their instruments soaring through a PA system. Indeed, every show was like being in the church of sound. I’m not big on stuffy portentous religion, mind you, thus the beautiful melodies of Blame Sally are my church. And as fantastic as they were then, they get better every year, every, song, every lyric, every note. You’d be remiss not to attend this church.
